Windsor, Ontario – Robert Joseph Hodgins, known to his loved ones as Bob, passed away peacefully on September 20th 2023, with his family by his side.

Bob leaves behind his beloved wife of 44 years, Debbie (nee Dalzell), and his children, Natalie Gadsden (John) and David Hodgins (Keesha) and grandsons Grant and Zane. He will be dearly missed by his siblings, Elaine Chicilo (Larry), Carol Gauthier (and the late Mark), Maureen Falica, Dale Hodgins (Donna), Brett Hodgins (Pauline), Jay Hodgins (Karla), Kathy MacEachern, Gail Bogart (Mark) and Pam MacDermid (Paul), as well as his brothers-in-law, Bob Dalzell (Carmen) and Marc Dalzell (Laurie). He was preceded in death by his parents Helen and Cecil Hodgins and stepmother Anne Hodgins, and siblings, Len Hodgins (Dianne), Mary Hodgins, Colleen Stanko (survived by George), Stephen Hodgins and Donna Anger (survived by Rick). Bob also mourned the loss of his mother-in-law, Freda Dalzell, and father-in-law, Lloyd Dalzell. Bob was a cherished uncle to Erick, Sarah, Michael, Jason, Lisa, Leigh, Laura, Mark, Michelle, Krista, the late Nikki, Gregg, Britney, Jessica, Nathan, Derek, Tiffany, Shawn, Justin, Jillian, Brendon, Jacob, Amanda, Heather, Ryan, Chris, Dwane, Lane, Leah, Kurtis, Hannah and Emma.

Bob was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather. He cherished spending time with his family and was known for his love of fishing and hunting. Whether it was with his son, brothers, nephews, grandsons or friends, Bob found joy in this time together. He also had a passion for cooking and enjoyed preparing meals for his loved ones. Bob had a kind and generous spirit, always making sure his family and friends were well taken care of. Bob enjoyed the outdoors and spending quality time with his family and friends while at his cottage on Manitoulin Island. He also enjoyed travelling to Florida with his wife and dear friends each year.
Bob had strong faith and was a member of Ambassador Community Church where he volunteered his time. Throughout his life, he also enjoyed volunteer work with United Way, the meal program at New Song Church, Windsor Minor Lacrosse and Windsor Minor Hockey. He was also a reluctant foster parent to many kittens.

Bob attended WF Herman Secondary School and then pursued a skilled trade apprenticeship at St. Clair College in partnership with General Motors. He was a dedicated Machine Repair Tradesman at the General Motors Windsor Transmission plant from 1976 to 2009.

Visitation will be held on Friday, September 22nd, from 3:00 -5:00 pm and 7:00 -9:00 pm at Families First (1065 Lauzon Rd, Windsor, Ontario, N8S 3M8).

Additional visitation will take place on Saturday, September 23rd at Ambassador Community Church (3033 Rivard Avenue, Windsor, Ontario) from 10:00 -11:00 am, followed by a Celebration of Life service.

Contributions in Bob’s memory may be made to the United Way of Windsor Essex County or The Hospice of Windsor and Essex County.

Bob Hodgins will be remembered for his love for his family, his passion for the outdoors, and his warm and caring nature. He will be deeply missed by all who had the pleasure of knowing him.
